The Legend Of Lo Shu

Loshu

Feng Shui has been practised and mastered since ancient times. Even though our work is highly adjusted to the requirements of modern living and culture, we are still excited about the roots of our profession growing thousands of years away from our times. We have expressed the respect for the tradition in the name of our business. What is Lo Shu? It a mixture of tradition, magic and some entertaining math. It has been known for ceuntries and become one of the patterns most widely used by the Feng Shui practicioners, especially those glorifying The Flying Star Shool, as we are. Lo Shu has similar significance to The Golden Ration in European tradition and science. Here is what one of the current masters of Feng Shui, Raymond Lo, says in his book:

Ancient Chinese civilization is stimulated by two mysterious numerical pictures called Lo Shu and Ho To. These are pictures with dots arranged in a special pattern. According to Chinese legend, the Lo Shu was found on the back of a giant tortoise which emerged in the River Lo in central China about 6000 years ago. This picture, when translated the dots into number, gave us a magic nine square chart with special mathematical quality. When one adds up any 3 numbers on a straight line, the sum is always 15. This numerical arrangement was effectively applied in battle fields in Chinese history. If one wants to defend the centre with limited number of soldiers, this Lo Shu arrangement is the most effective as no matter which point is under attack, there is always 15 soldiers come to defend that point.
